Best Road Trip EVER!!!

I meant to post each day of our road trip across America, but it didn't happen.  So I will give a quick recap.  Ashley and I drove from Utah to New York, with lots of stops along the way.  We went from Salt Lake to Mt. Rushmore to Nauvoo to Michigan to Niagara Falls to Boston to Glen Spey, New York.  We had such a great time and I must say the I love AMERICA!  We live in such a beautiful country with so many amazing sites to see.  The rolling hills of South Dakota and the green farmlands of Iowa were beautiful.  My favorite day was when we went to Niagara Falls.  We rode the Maid of the Mist up to the Falls and got soaked.  Then we walked across the bridge into Canada and had so much fun over there!! We walked down the FUNNEST street ever and had dinner and ice cream.  We both decided that we want to live in Canada one day!!

I also loved staying in Michigan.  We stayed with a family that my sister became friends with when she served her mission there.  They live on a lake.  Their backyard backs right up to the lake. That is my dream! I'd love to live on a lake one day! We stayed in a small cabin in their backyard and I just loved it there.  I sat out on the dock and read a book and we took a little ride out on the boat.  It was the perfect place to me.

We also spent a couple of days in Nauvoo, Illinois.  My friend's parents are serving a mission there right now and we were able to stay with them.  They were such great hosts!  Ashley and I explored the sites (Nauvoo was built by the early members of the Mormon church), one of which included the Webb Blacksmith Shop, which belonged to our great great great great grandfather Chauncey Webb.  He and his brothers built many of the wagons that brought the Mormon pioneers across the plains from Nauvoo to Salt Lake City.  Nauvoo had a very special feeling to it and I thought a lot about the Prophet Joseph Smith and my own relatives that lived in and loved that beautiful city.

Our final stop before camp was Boston.  We stayed with my dear friend, Kristin, and my friends, Darnell and Wendy, flew out from Utah to join us for the weekend.  It was so much fun!!!  We walked the Freedom Trail, ran around Harvard University in the middle of the night and got to see Saturn through the giant telescope at the Observatory there and we visited the beautiful city of Rockport which was right on the coast and where the movie The Proposal was filmed.  I love Boston and would love to go back again and spend more time exploring out there.  And it was so great to hang out with my friends before heading to camp.

Now I'm at camp.  I'm finally getting settled in here. I think the road trip wiped me out and I am finally not so exhausted.  I've still got 6 1/2 weeks of camp left and then it's another epic road trip to make it home, with a stop in Ohio which I can't wait for!  Why, do you ask?  Because we get to visit our sister, Jen, and her awesome family!!!
