Weekend Update: Floating, Reading and #18

I am just going to start off by saying that I LOVE SUMMER! I have been enjoying the sunshine, the fresh air and the fun times with great friends and family. I would love to have summer last forever!

I am happy to report that I have crossed off two more things on my list of 30 things to do before turning 30! I accomplished number 18 on my list. What is number 18 you ask? You can find out here. It just happened randomly one night. The only words I'll use to describe it was: random, swimming pool, friends, diving board, laughing, water slide, freeing and fun. And I still hold true to the fact that everyone should do this at least once in their lives!

I also crossed off number 24, which is FLOATING IN THE GREAT SALT LAKE. Oh my goodness, this was awesome! I have always heard that when you swim in the Great Salt Lake you just float. I didn't quite believe it was possible. But on Friday night I joined five of my friends for a sail boat ride with the Great Salt Lake Experience. My friend, JR, owns the company and took us out on his 27 ft. sail boat named Nauti Girl - I even got to steer the boat! We had such a fun night sailing around the lake and watching the most incredible sunset ever. The highlight of the trip was getting in the water and FLOATING. It was such a crazy feeling and we all giggled like little girls as we would try to let ourselves sink in the water but would automatically be pushed back up. I have no idea how and why that happens, but it was such a cool feeling to float out there. This was seriously one of the highlights of my summer. The whole sailing experience was awesome and I was able to experience it with such a great group of friends.

To go with my goal of reading 30 books this year, I finished reading my 6th book, which was the Book of Mormon. Let me just say that I love this book. I would guess that I have read this book at least 20 times, probably more. I set a goal when I was young to read this book every day. I haven't been 100%, but I'm pretty darn close. For those of you that don't know what the Book of Mormon is, it the main book of scripture for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also known as the Mormon Church. It is another testament of Jesus Christ and when I read it I feel very close to heaven. When I don't read it, I feel more distant - and I choose to feel close to heaven and that is why I read it every day. Finishing this book also helps me with goal #8.

#26 is to attend the temple once a month and I went last week and it was wonderful. It always is and I am grateful I get to go.

I am having so much fun working on my list of 30 things to accomplish. I am doing things that I have always wanted to do, but have never made the time to do them. It's so fun to make plans and I've got some fun things lined up: hiking the Narrows in Zion's, fitting into my Gold Pleather Wranglers (I have lost 11 pounds in the last month!), creating a quilt with all of my old t-shirts and hiking to the top of Lone Peak.

Number one on my list is to ride in a hot air ballooon! I was searching hot air balloon companies and I found one that is having a contest on facebook. Everyone that "LIKES" their page is entered to win a free hot air balloon ride, so I am asking ALL OF YOU, even if you don't live in Utah, to PLEASE "LIKE" THIS PAGE and if you win, please share with me! Thanks to all of you for reading this and cheering me on during my journey to being THIRTY, FLIRTY and THRIVING!
